Revodox™: the oxygen carrier that controls the loop

Revodox™ is EvoGenesis’s proprietary regenerable oxygen-carrier technology at the heart of GenesisLoop™. It carries oxygen from air into the active reactors without mixing the material directly with air, then returns to the regenerator to be restored for the next cycle.
That circulation also moves heat. Regenerating Revodox™ with air is exothermic, so the carrier returns hot and supplies energy to the core process after startup. The result is an integrated loop connecting reaction control, gas quality, and energy use.
“Revodox™ carries oxygen where it is needed, returns heat to the active loop, and is regenerated with air for the next cycle.”
What an oxygen carrier actually does
In a conventional combustion or gasification process, the fuel contacts oxygen from air directly. The oxidation reactions that release energy occur in the presence of nitrogen — which represents approximately 78% of air by volume — and the products are inevitably mixed with nitrogen-containing combustion gases.
In chemical-looping, a solid metal oxide carries oxygen from the air into the fuel reactor. The metal oxide is reduced by the fuel — giving up its oxygen to drive the conversion reactions — without air being present. The products of fuel conversion are therefore not diluted by nitrogen. The output streams are inherently separated.
The reduced metal oxide — now carrying less oxygen — is transported to a steam reactor where it contacts steam. Here, a partial re-oxidation occurs: the metal reacts with water, splitting the H₂O molecule and releasing a hydrogen-rich gas stream while the carrier accepts oxygen from the water. The partially oxidized carrier then moves to the air reactor, where it contacts air and is fully regenerated by oxidation with atmospheric oxygen.
The chemistry of Revodox™
Revodox™ builds on metal-oxide redox chemistry: a solid material can release oxygen in one reaction environment and be restored with air in another. The detailed formulation, particle structure, and operating strategy determine how the carrier performs through repeated high-temperature circulation.
In GenesisLoop™, the carrier delivers oxygen in controlled amounts in the conversion reactor. A hydrogen configuration can then use the reduced carrier in a steam reactor to produce a separate hydrogen-rich gas stream. Air restores the carrier in the regenerator and releases high-temperature heat.
The science is established. The engineering challenge is to combine carrier formulation, reaction kinetics, particle durability, circulation, heat management, and reactor design into one reliable operating system.
Revodox™ is engineered as a regenerable oxygen carrier—not a one-pass additive. It is restored with air, recirculated through the process, and managed as a core operating asset.
The engineering challenges of oxygen-carrier design
An oxygen carrier must transfer oxygen at the required rate, survive high-temperature circulation, resist particle breakdown, maintain reactive surface area, and perform consistently as conditions change.
That is why the carrier cannot be treated separately from the reactors. Particle formulation, solids handling, circulation rate, temperature control, monitoring, makeup, and lifecycle management all have to work as one engineered system.
Revodox™ is the operating link between precise chemistry and repeatable plant performance.
"A carrier that degrades requires replacement. A carrier that maintains performance compounds the economics of every plant that uses it — over its entire operating lifetime."
Why Revodox™ is a platform asset
Revodox™ is more than a material specification. It is a core operating asset supported by formulation, supply, monitoring, replenishment, lifecycle management, and operating data.
That creates an ongoing commercial relationship between EvoGenesis and each GenesisLoop™ project. As operating experience grows, carrier data can strengthen formulation, controls, maintenance planning, and performance across the platform.
Revodox™ sits at the center of both the process and the commercial platform: it controls oxygen delivery, recirculates heat, and supports long-term operation.
