From Ohio State research to the GenesisLoop™ platform

GenesisLoop™ begins with a deep scientific foundation. For decades, Dr. Liang-Shih Fan and his team at The Ohio State University have advanced oxygen-carrier materials, gas-solid reactor systems, syngas and hydrogen pathways, carbon separation, and chemical-looping process design.

EvoGenesis is applying that foundation to selected plastic, tire-derived, and organic feedstocks. The company’s role is to combine the science with complete system engineering, commercial partnerships, and projects built around real material supply and energy demand.

“Ohio State established the chemical-looping foundation. EvoGenesis is building the commercial platform around it.”

Where the scientific foundation was built

Dr. Fan joined Ohio State in 1978 and built a widely recognized research program in fluid-particle reaction engineering. The work spans oxygen-carrier chemistry, reactor hydrodynamics, process modeling, fuel conversion, hydrogen production, and carbon-dioxide separation.

Ohio State teams have operated chemical-looping systems from laboratory through pilot scales and published extensively on their behavior. Portions of the work have received support from the U.S. Department of Energy, and related technologies have advanced through industrial collaboration with Babcock & Wilcox.

This history matters because GenesisLoop™ is not starting from an untested reaction concept. It starts with an established body of science that can inform commercial system engineering.

Dr. Fan is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and several other national engineering academies. He serves as Scientific Advisor to EvoGenesis.

What commercialization adds

A successful industrial project requires more than a reactor. It needs a consistent feedstock, preparation and feeding equipment, gas cleanup, controls, safety systems, heat recovery, permits, a host site, product buyers, engineering partners, capital, and an operating plan.

EvoGenesis brings those pieces together around the licensed Ohio State technology foundation. The work begins with material qualification and market alignment, then moves through integrated engineering, testing, partner development, and demonstration planning.

The GenesisLoop™ commercial platform

GenesisLoop™ combines conversion, carrier regeneration, and—when the project calls for hydrogen—a separate steam-reactor pathway. Revodox™ carries oxygen and heat between these reaction environments.

The platform is modular because waste streams, sites, and energy markets are different. Reactor configuration, preparation, cleanup, heat recovery, and downstream systems are selected around the project rather than forced into one fixed plant design.

EvoGenesis is building commercial opportunities through technology, engineering, Revodox™ supply and lifecycle support, and partnerships across the project value chain.

“The research foundation gives GenesisLoop™ a powerful head start. Commercial success comes from engineering the complete system around a real project.”

What comes next

EvoGenesis is working with material suppliers, energy buyers, project hosts, engineering organizations, research partners, and investors to define the strongest early opportunities.

The near-term work is practical: characterize materials, establish product requirements, integrate the complete system, test the engineering assumptions, and structure a demonstration with the right partners.

The scientific foundation exists. EvoGenesis is assembling the engineering, partnerships, and project structure needed to carry it into commercial use.
